Barack-ing the Vote
I went and voted this morning. I always bring my kids with me, and I was so worked up, I decided I couldn’t wait until after school to vote. So we bopped off the polling place and found that the line was do-able; I voted and I still got them to school on time.
All 3 of us went into the booth together, and we all put our hands on the lever and pushed it down together on the count of 3. I told my kids that they had just taken part in an act of great historical significance. I’ve been trying to make them understand this whole year how amazing this election has been, what with a woman and a black man being the front-runners for the Democrats. I told them today, I wasn’t sure I’d ever see the day when a man of color ran for President, and I told them I still hope to see the day when a woman runs (and wins)!!
Now I just have to live through the next several hours without consuming all of the Halloween candy in the house out of sheer nervousness.
I’m cruising the Net to keep myself distracted, and in reading my comics, I decided to share this one with you all:
Seriously. GO. Go vote! NOW!!!!!!
